Futureproof Cumbria , formerly Cumbria Action for Sustainability (CAfS),
Futureproof Cumbria (Registered charity No. 1123155), was a driving force in the development of Community Energy Cumbria. They have been delivering practical sustainability projects since 1998, and the development of CEC fit closely with their aims of enabling Cumbria to move away from fossil fuel dependency and closer towards a prosperous, fairer, zero carbon society and economy.
Futureproof provided the necessary staff time to manage and administer CEC, including the provision of an interest free loan of £15,000, enabling the production of a website and launch video, paying for legal advice and marketing of the share issue. They also provided a ‘Working Group’ to advise Community Energy Cumbria up to its first AGM, as well as providing administration to manage the first share issue.
They still provide administration duties for CEC, under a paid contract which renews annually.
